The Yigal Azrouël Fall 2012 Collection conjures the spirit of Francoise Hardy – a public figure with a private person. Possessing an effortless elegance and casual refinement, the Yigal Azrouël woman plays with the duality of masculine and feminine, public versus private, strength and sensitivity. The collection reflects an irreverent style, vis-à-vis linear forms punctured with an edge of leather trim and python accent.
Francoise Hardy, a fashion and musical icon, is a French singer, actress and astrologer – a Renaissance woman, if you ask me. She grew up in the 9th arrondissement of Paris with her younger sister; her parents lived apart.
Hardy signed her first contract with a record label, Vogue, in November of 1961. Shortly later, in April of 1962, her first record “Oh Oh Cheri” debuted.
During the 1960′s, Françoise was photographed with many of the top music stars, including Mick Jagger and Bob Dylan.
In 1981, she married Jacques Dutronc, the father of her son, Thomas, who was born in 1973.
“To be admired,” she says “it is not a normal situation…I don’t like that at all…I am not comfortable with my professional life really, so the word ‘icon’- it’s as though you were talking about someone else, it’s not me really…I feel happy when I’m on my bed, in my room with a good book.”
Hardy’s style is simple, laid-back with an ever-so-slight edginess.
The unintentional beauty in mystery.
Fearless in her outlook and quiet in her confidence.
